And though I’ll think of you, I guess, until the day I die…

According to the Pirates of the Caribbean Wikipedia article:
According to Terry Rossio, the script for the fifth film is finished, and he has handed the script to Disney executives. Speaking at the fourth film’s press launch in Cannes, Depp said he would play the role for as long as it is popular with the public. Disney has a wishlist of directors they would like to direct, as Rob Marshall has not yet accepted nor declined to direct. The list includes Tim Burton, Sam Raimi, Alfonso Cuaron, Shawn Levy, Chris Weitz, and original Pirates director Gore Verbinski. Verbinski and Burton are Disney’s top choices as they have both worked with Disney and Johnny Depp on numerous occasions. On July 6, 2011, Johnny Depp confirmed on a deal for the fifth film. Orlando Bloom said he would like to return for a fifth film if he was offered.
Oh my god, so many emotions here and not all of them are good. PLEASE, for the love of God let it be Gore Verbinski! I think a return to the original Pirates is a fantastic idea. Equally, PLEASE let it NOT be Tim Burton. Look, Tim, I love you and I love your work but Pirates of the Caribbean is something completely different. Can you imagine?
A Pirates set mostly during the night (likely stormy) or during a very hazy day. Early on in the film, Angelica will experience a horrible gruesome death so as to make room for Helena Bonham Carter as Johnny’s new leading lady. Jack, with even darker circles around his eyes and an unbelievably pale face, must travel to Atlantis because Barbossa (now with even darker clothing, as if it were possible) has gone overboard with the Sword of Triton. And of course, the score would be composed by Danny Elfman. I don’t even want to think of his take on He’s A Pirate, honestly. Tim just doesn’t fit.
As for Orlando Bloom returning, I think that’s a great idea. I don’t know how they’d make it work, but I’m sure they could think of something. I’d even be happy with a cameo.
Merry Halloween!
