Hang The Code
Anonymous: Why did you decide to make a Pirates of the Caribbean blog?

It didn’t start out that way. In fact, I started Tumblr with a blog under the name “misanthromania” but later deleted it because I couldn’t see the point of just reblogging everything. I came back last summer out of boredom and decided to pass the time by making GIFs.

When I finally learned how, I just thought “I want to make an awesome photoset… but of what?” And naturally, I thought of one of my most favorite scenes, which is the wedding scene from At World’s End.

And after that, I just started making stuff from Pirates of the Caribbean. And since my very first photoset (the wedding one) got really popular, I gained a lot of followers… and then it was just sort of expected, I suppose.

But honestly, don’t you think Tumblr is (or was, maybe) lacking Jack Sparrow? He’s an amazing character. All you ever see is Harry Potter, Mean Girls, Lord of the Rings, Spongebob, and lots and lots of other fandoms… and I’m sure you could find really great blogs dedicated to those fandoms. But what about Jack? I remember searching endlessly for decent blogs to follow and I didn’t find very many. Most of them were inactive, it was really disappointing. I don’t run a fan blog or anything, but I hope I’ve at least sort of helped to fill the void. I’ve had some pretty popular Jack Sparrow posts so I know he’s been around the Tumblr community!

And on top of all of that, I just love Johnny Depp. Seriously, he’s my idol. Very intelligent, humble, and tremendously skilled. I nearly had a fit when I didn’t get to attend the lecture he held at my university.
